Award for the Educational-Development Project "Foundations of a Green Future"

Interenergo's collaboration with SESGŠ Kranj first began in 2020 with the school's energy transformation. This included a comprehensive energy renovation under the energy contracting model, involving the renovation of the boiler room, replacement of lighting, windows, and glass facade, and thermal insulation of the school's attic. Besides significant energy and financial savings, the renovation also reduced the school's carbon footprint by 150 tons of emissions.

In the 2022/23 school year, an educational component was added to the energy renovation. Students were actively involved in the school's transformation, with a major focus on education about efficient energy use. In the school's main hall, students were able to follow a presentation on a screen displaying the basic facts about energy and the green transition.

The project quickly gained enthusiasm among the students. In a quiz conducted at the end of the semester, students demonstrated enhanced energy literacy and confirmed their acquired knowledge by changing their habits and reducing energy consumption at school. The winners of the quiz, as a reward, received sustainable gifts—pencils with seeds. The executed project is a significant proof that successful energy transformation requires not only technological solutions but also responsible and smart behavior from every individual.

In April 2023, the importance of complementing the school's energy renovation project with awareness and educational aspects was recognized at a significant environmental and energy event. At the 25th "Energy Days" conference, the "Foundations of a Green Future" project was awarded by the expert jury as the "best project for promoting efficient use and renewable energy sources."

Another Award for Energy-Efficient Solution

Following the first award, Interenergo's idea was again nominated for an award, this time at the Environmental Awards 2023 event, organized by Finance newspaper and Eko sklad. The "Foundations of a Green Future" project was among the finalists in the "Environmentally Friendly Product, Process, or Service" category.

We are very satisfied with the results of the project and proud of the progress shown by SESGŠ Kranj students. The awards not only demonstrate the project's success but also confirm that many small steps significantly contribute to reducing energy consumption.

In addition to the two important awards this project received, the greatest testament to its success came when students demonstrated that the educational project was fruitful and that they are ready to propose energy-efficient ideas themselves. With the concept of a bike that generates energy to charge a phone while riding, they impressed both professors and external partners. For financial support in implementing the project, they turned to Interenergo, which gladly donated a dynamo and charger, key components for the bike's flawless operation. With this ambitious idea, the students showed that they are ready to take initiative and think sustainably, with the added benefit of promoting the physical activity.
